Day 1 - Pat
Hi everyone!
We made it to Tanzania. It felt like a long journey in planes and cramped spaces and waiting, and we traveled thousands of miles and forward 9 time zones. The flights here were very interesting: lots of small compartmental servings of airplane food and struggling to butter bread when you can't move your elbow because of a close neighbor, the dutch very young children screaming and trying to run around, peeking out a side window and seeing desert dunes, and getting about 10 Sudoku puzzles done and watching 3 movies in total.
I met people gradually along the way as our group grew. We properly met up once we landed at 11 pm at the brand new and super large dar es salaam airport.
I'm not sure what to describe from today; what is most important to tell others?
It's hot and humid and walking around in jeans in the sun is shocking.
Here's a blowfish lamp at our hotel.
Here is a ginger ale made with real ginger - it's really good! I recommend drinking it at a waterfront restaurant in the shade with an ocean breeze.
Pat
